Author Bio

Laura Martin

I want to be part of a community where women can talk with each other about something we all experience without embarrassment or concern about judgment.

Writer Laura Martin loves meeting new people and telling their stories. She thinks everyone has a story to tell as long as they’re asked the right questions. In her spare time, she busies herself with scrapbooking, trying new recipes, and reading mystery novels.

Can do:

Laura thinks “can’t” should be banished from your vocabulary.

“All obstacles can be overcome with hard work and dedication. Saying you can’t do something is just an excuse people use when they’re afraid to try.”

Getting schooled:

In college, Laura specialized in Women’s Studies in addition to journalism.

“Many of my classes discussed the social stigmas and issues associated with everything from puberty to pregnancy. I also write a variety of health-related stories for my day job, many of them aimed exclusively at women.”

Her inspiration:

Laura respects people who fight to overcome obstacles.

I am inspired by anyone who has the strength to go after what they want in life, regardless of the challenges they are faced with.”

Her mission:

I want to do my part to change the word ‘period’ from something shameful to something that reminds us of the amazing abilities women’s bodies have. I want to be part of a community where women can talk with each other about something we all experience without embarrassment or concern about judgment.”
